Mitsubishi Motors is a Recognized Leader in 4-wheel Drive Engineering, and Has Been Ever Since We First Introduced the Mitsubishi Px33 in 1936.

Since then, we've refined and perfected our All-Wheel Control system, building vehicles that have conquered the rigors of off-road rally and endurance racing. These advanced technologies have been transitioned into every All-Wheel Control-equipped Mitsubishi Motors vehicle, providing you with the stability and traction you need to tackle any driving scenario, including our slippery Canadian winter roads.

The Control You Need

Mitsubishi Motors' patented All-Wheel Control system leverages a suite of innovative technologies that delivers confidence and a superior driving experience by improving handling, safety and performance across a variety of driving and road conditions - wet, slick or dry.

RVR

2-Wheel Drive: keeps the vehicle in Front-Wheel Drive regardless of driving conditions, for economical driving on normal dry roads and freeways.

4-Wheel Drive Auto: offers a well-balanced 4-Wheel Drive performance, resulting in enhanced fuel efficiency, traction, high-speed stability and predictable handling based on road and driving conditions.

4-Wheel Drive Lock: increased torque is applied to the rear wheels, helping the vehicle enhance performance on slippery surfaces, such as on snow-covered roads or sand.

OUTLANDER

4-Wheel Drive ECO: the system automatically transfers torque to the rear wheels when loss of traction is detected, to enhance stability beyond the typical 2-Wheel Drive fuel-efficient drive mode.

Electronically Controlled Coupling

Electronically Controlled Coupling

When wheel slippage is detected, the system directs torque between the front and rear axles as required, to enhance overall traction on slick surfaces. This is especially useful when accelerating from a stop on slippery surfaces, or climbing a hill covered in ice or snow.

Active Stability Control

Active Stability Control

When the system detects a difference between the intended and actual direction of the vehicle, it automatically reduces engine power and applies brakes independently on the wheels with less traction. This reduces the chance of understeer or oversteer in tough cornering situations, enhancing safety and helping your vehicle stay on its path.

Anti-Lock Brakes

Anti-Lock Brakes

Combined with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, the system prevents the wheels from locking up under heavy braking, or while braking on slippery road surfaces. This allows the wheels to continue turning while stopping in an emergency, keeping you in control at all times.

Active Front Differential

Found exclusively on Outlander GT S-AWC, the Active Front Differential limits the differential speed between the right and left front wheels with an electronically controlled clutch when oversteer or understeer is detected, helping you hug the corners as you originally planned.

Active Yaw Control

This highly advanced system uses real-time data from the steering wheel angle, yaw rate, driving torque, braking pressure and wheel speed to detect excessive rotational force on any given wheel. It applies ABS systems as required to the four wheels to quickly manage wheel speed and maximize traction, providing an enhanced, sporty feel in tight corners, and improved safety when braking or accelerating in slippery or snow-covered turns.
